In the hair cutting world there are two types of hair clippers; corded and cordless clippers and the latter are becoming ever more popular. We therefore decided to review the most common models and came up with our very own podium showing the three best cordless hair clippers.
So, without further ado, here it is... our top three best cordless hair trimmers.

Panasonic ER-GP80 K
OUR TOP CHOICE
Andis Cordless Clipper BGR+
Battery Operated Clippers in High Demand
Up to the very recent past many professional barbers opted to use corded clippers because these were generally perceived to have more cutting power. However, the downside is that the cord does get in the way, making it difficult to get the most precise and effective cut, which is quite frustrating.
Recent models of battery operated rechargeable hair clippers have however shown considerable improvements in their motor power, with some of them having the same power output as their corded counterparts.
This is why more and more hairdressers and barbers are now looking for the latest models of professional cordless clippers as these are easier to work with and maneuver, for those tricky style fades, for example, yet these machines still give you more than enough cutting power to serve client's needs.
Review of the Best Cordless Hair Clippers
We have chosen our top 3 rechargeable battery operated hair clippers of that are available on and below we give you our review.
When considering which machine will make the cut into our best of list for 2017, we took into consideration various hair clippers based on price, features offered and manufacturers. We do have our absolute favorite cordless clipper but we understand that it might not be within everyone's budget.
All three battery operated hair clippers in our list are extremely good machines which we're sure will do the job perfectly and satisfy your requirements, but now that you have three to look into, you will be able to see which one is going to work best for your budget and your hair-cutting needs.
We decided to go with big-name manufacturers, because when it comes to buying hair clippers, especially the cordless versions, you want the best brand names. They need to be durable products, with a strong battery operated motor, and most importantly they need to be safe.
There are many knock-off, cheaper hair clippers on the market, which we advice you stay away from, especially since you will be using these clippers on your or other people’s heads, face and necks.
Now that we got our 'warning note' out of the way, let's get right to our reviews of the best battery operated clippers of 2017.
Review of the Panasonic ER-GP80 K Professional
The Panasonic ER-GP80-K Professional Hair Clipper in our opinion, is overall the best cordless hair clippers. To be honest this list would not be complete without at least one Panasonic model but this particular machine really outperforms all the others on the market.
If Wahl are the pioneers of developing electric hair clippers, Panasonic are the explorers and innovators in this industry. They are a company that wants to push the envelope when it comes to technology and help you fill your house with products that are easy to use.
Panasonic are mostly known for their incredible TV sets, however they do not play around when it comes manufacturing hair clippers, and they do an excellent job.
This specific model, the Panasonic ER-GP80-K Professional Hair Clipper, can be used both with a cord and in cordless operation. If you want the battery to be fully charged, it takes just one hour. Once the charging cycle is over, it can offer 50 minutes of continuous clipping without being plugged in.
This is model gives a longer operational use on battery power when compared to a lot of other products that offer the same concept.
Thanks to a powerful motor and their high-quality X-Taper blades these clippers can cut through any type of hair with efficiency and ease.
Convinced why this was chosen as the best cordless hair trimmer? Well, there's still more to boast about.
The clippers have a handy blade size adjustment wheel in the center of their body frame, which is conveniently placed close to where the thumb usually rests while handling the clippers. This means that with a quick turn of this wheel you can adjust the blade size for different hair cutting lengths ranging from 0.8mm to 2mm without the need for an attachable comb guide.
Not only do you get this wide range of cut sizes within the clipper main frame but you also get longer sizes thanks to 3 attachable guard combs.
Yes, unlike most other hair clippers, the Panasonic only needs 3 attachable comb guides in order to manage a range of sizes between 3mm and 15mm. This is because when combining these comb guides with the large range of sizes obtained from the adjustable wheel you can tailor for most hair cut size requirements.
The Panasonic GP-80-K comes with a power cord that can work both is the US and also throughout Europe. This is extremely convenient if you are planning to move or travel with it.
It's also extremely easy to clean and the stylish model comes with it's own standing base for storing it while not in use.
Probably the only thing which annoyed us is that it doesn't come with a storage case, like most other hair clippers you buy nowadays. For most of you, this might not really be an issue, however at this price we would have expected this to be included in the package.
Check out our summary review box below.
Panasonic GP-80-K Review Summary

Our Conclusion on the Panasonic Cordless Clippers
This is definitely the best cordless hair clipper on the market at the moment and even though it comes with a, higher than average, price tag, we still think it is worth every penny.
It's such a fantastic machine that it also took the top spot in our list of best professional clippers for hair stylists and barbers, so when you buy the Panasonic ER-GP80-K cordless hair clippers you know you really are getting a serious, top-of-the-range cutting machine.
It's also worth mentioning a slightly cheaper version of this Panasonic model which is the ER-GB80-S. You can find a full review here.
Review of Wahl Lithium Ion Cordless Clippers
The nest product to make our list is the Wahl Lithium Ion Hair Clipper. As expected the Wahl brand is always found in any best of hair clipper list.
This brand is the oldest and probably most well-known company in the industry and is the forefather and creator of electric hair clippers. They are an incredible company that offer high-quality products at bargain prices.
The Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper is the cheapest option in our list of rechargeable hair clippers. This product is made of high quality, durable materials, like all Wahl products, but it also has quite alot of features which make it one of the best. clippers in the Wahl range.
The Lithium Ion Hair Clipper package comes with a range of additional add-ons, including over 12 different size attachable comb guides, a styling comb, shears, a cleaning brush, lubricating oil to keep the blades in optimal conditions and a full color instruction booklet, which are perfect for beginners.
If you are new to cutting hair, this is what you want.
This hair cutting machine is a detailed cordless hair trimmer, and the contoured shape of the device allows you to do great touch-ups on hair, neck, and side burns. It also comes with blades that can self-sharpen themselves and have a precise edge, for the finest cut look.
On a full charge, the clippers can run in cordless mode twice as long than most other cordless clippers on the market. The best part is the quick charge feature that is quite unique to this model.
On a 15-minute quick charge, it has the power to run for 12 minutes which is more than enough for a quick touch up or even a full blown hair cut for the more experienced users out there.

The final product up for review is the Andis Professional Ceramic Hair Clipper with Detachable Blade, which is also referred to as the BGRC or BGR+, depending on which part of the world you are purchasing from.
We wanted to end this list with an Andis product because they are known to make some of the most high-end clippers.
This specific model is the most expensive one on our list. Now, we know that just because something is pricier, it does not make it the best.
What does make the Andis brand name one of the best is their fantastic customer support service who are easy to get in touch with in case anything goes wrong.
This Andis model works with a rotary motor that is very powerful. When fully charged, it is able to run continuously for 1 hour, making it one of the most powerful clippers that can hold a long charge.
It can fit all Ceramic Edge and Ultra Edge blades found in the Andis line. These however are sold separately and do not come with the package.
The blades can be detached, which makes it easy to change, clean and choose the style you want.
The battery can also be unclipped and charged separately from the clipper, which means you can still use the clipper corded while the battery charges. This is extremely convenient for those instances were you need to use the clipper but notice that it is out of charge (someone forgot to charge it the last time round!).
It also comes with lubricating oil, to help you maintain the blades in perfect condition.
Andis Ceramic Cordless Clipper - Review Summary
The detachable, ceramic blades are unique to this product which probably has the sharpest blades of all clippers on the market.
- Battery can be charged seperately
- Easy to use
- Professional and Durable Clipper
- Runs on rotary Motor.
Philips is worth a mention
Choosing the top 3 was a hard call for us and we had to leave out some really good brands and models, however the Philips Norelco HC7452/41 7100 hair clipper is worth a mention.
This cordless hair clipper runs on a lithium-ion battery which also has a built-in turbo boost for a high quality and efficient shave. You can read the full review here.
All three of the cordless clippers mentioned above, although ranging in features and price, are definitely some of the best cordless hair clippers that can be bought both online and in store. Now, it is up to you to choose which will work best for your needs.
Best Cordless Clippers
Wahl Lithium Ion Cordless Clipper
Panasonic ER-GP80 K
OUR TOP CHOICE
Andis Cordless Clipper BGR+
Whichever hair clipper you choose, however, we do recommend you go cordless nowadays since technology has improved considerably and most brands have a battery powered motor which is as powerful as the corded clipper motors.
So, might as well go for wireless clippers.
As with all other cordless gadgets, getting rid of the cord or wire makes it so much easier to maneuver and work at your best.
